Katie Karin wrote Lovie and The Cloud Sculptor to honor her sister Lovie and their father—both extraordinary artists who now watch over us as angels above the clouds. The characters of Velopenose Village were born from Lovie’s own drawings, lovingly created on envelopes she sent to their dad over many years. Some of these whimsical characters were drawn with the nose placed on the fold of the envelope—giving rise to the name of the village: Velopenose. If you were to visit Katie Karin’s home, you would discover Velopenose Village brought to life in a beautiful garden—a living tribute where these beloved characters dwell.
